Personal Styling For Jason Gagnon, Original Curations By Kai M Huntoon & Lucille Roelle

Creative Direction

Kai M Huntoon

Jason Gagnon emphasized the inclusion of personal identity into self-expression through dress. Jason is a university-level instructor as well so there is a likely sense of practicality and comfort. Jason favors using black clothing, flowy fabric, and non-fitted silhouettes. Jason prefers to float between the general binary, not leaning to masculine and, more important not leaning overly feminine.Out client uses works like, goth, and wicken paired with ninja and priest to describe their style. Jason does wear the vocational tie-dye or caftan as substitutes to everyday outfits. We plan to work with flowy comfortable silhouettes that also work to create shape and balance throughout the looks.

Jason wants assistance most when styling formal business wear. This is a struggle, especially as a non-binary as there is not as much content to pull inspiration from in those categories outside of the gender binary. Which we hope to aid him in. I think that will be a very fun challenge as a lot of me and kais daily wear incorporates workwear in less conventional senses so pushing that into a more formal style creating a gender fluid formal identity. There were some mentions in the interview seeming that they feel the need to dress to others comfort levels in certain situations which while unfortunate is important to keep in mind as they will be perceived differently depending on how they dress which could also affect their emotional comfortability and safety which are important though not ideal as one should not have to dress to make others feel comfortable. A good goal for us would be to find a middle-ground where our client can feel comfortable in their identity while also feeling comfortable with the way they may be perceived by several potential audiences.
